Ausanta
is an AFAA certified group fitness instructor, professional
choreographer/dancer,
and personal trainer from Chicago Heights, Illinois. Since the
age of 7, Ausanta has been an active member of cheerleading squads
and dance troupes. She became the cheerleading coach at her former
grammar school, Gavin Elementary School in Chicago Heights from
1981 1985.
She attended the United States Dance Association (USDA) Summer
Camp Program in 1984. There were over 15,000 dancers from all
over the U.S. that attended this event and Ausanta received one
of the twenty USDA Championship Awards to compete nationally.
USDA offered her a position to become a staff member for next
years summer camp training program.
It wasnt until her years at Southern Illinois University
that she began to pursue her dream as a choreographer/dancer.
She attended dance classes, became a member of the Saluki Shaker
Dance Squad, and joined a dance troupe called The Black Fire Dancers
at SIU-C. During her second year at SIU-C, she was asked to choreograph
the opening number for a major artist. This was her first professional
job as a choreographer/dancer.
